We all know that we have some remarkable examples of how students and teachers are leveraging the power of technology to empower and develop deep-sustained learning but how do we get these sparks of innovation to spread throughout our entire district to create and cultivate a new learning culture? This year’s TechFest is all about fanning the flame. We are coming together to be challenged, collaborate and share our visions and practices for moving forward in the digital learning frontier.

Science, the Common Core, and Canvas: Year 1

Canvas offers tools and capabilities that function extremely well to intertwine specific content areas (science, social science) with the reading and writing called for by the common core. In this session I will offer essential questions and suggestions for teachers ready to test the water of blended learning. I will share some samples of writing assignments and solutions to common first time hurdles. Specific content will include developing a primary document based writing assignment to support lab work. Common core standards in both reading and writing will be directly addressed along with Canvas specific tools.
